I don't mind the chest/key thing. It DID nerf farming, and it alsomade it so that when you do find a chest and have a key that you at least get SOMETHING out of it.

As far as proffesions being able to open chests w/o a key. Would that really be a driving force to take that character as a primary proffesion? I highly doubt it, (Soul Reaping? or open a chest w/o a key for a purple item?). It might be a good idea to do Something like that but without the guaranteed purple/gold. For example: you could use a key on a chest, OR, you could uses the skill occupying your skill toolbar to open a chest and get a lesser item out of it...

I dont think a lot of people will switch to ranger, because your limited to 4 characters, I am sure people have maxed it out already.
Assassins are not just killers, they're silent killers, the ones supposed to pick locks to overcome doors and get to their targets, without a sound.

IMHO the lock-picking tools are a great idea and should be bought only by the new class.

Well technology is GW times, not this time, if GW was in this time zone, you'd see cars. I think rangers should have lockpick tatic, its not like you get it for free, it wastes 1 tatic slot, and you cant guarenteed a chest to be in that area, so it would be worth it. I still do not think assassins should do this, assassin to me is like necromancer, warrior. Yes they are swift and deadly, but I have never heard an assassin able to lockpicks. However with ranger, on EQ they can lockpicks. I think EQ gives skills to each class how they should have them. On GW I think they mod it a bit, do you really think a monk should be able to make someone not able to do damage? Or do you think a mage, or mesmer should do that? Monks dont specialize in making your opponent not able to attack.

If assasins can pick locks it's going to allow chest farming to work again and so I doubt they'll be able to.

Not necessarly, chests do not ALWAYS appear in a certain zone. I hope assassins DO NOT get this ability, I think there getting overrated and getting a jack of trade class instead of 1 pure class

I think Rouges should be the jack of trades class, they seem to fit into everything BUT spell casting.

How will it allow chest farming? You dont allways have good percentage that a chest will appear in that zone.

I spend about 10-20k give or take everytime I sign on to gw for keys...And I'm not on for very long...Maybe an hour/two or so and I still make my gold back...It's not very hard....As for rangers opening chests...My personal opinion is that they are more like a druid class than anything else...And if there was some type of rogue class then maybe they should be able to open chests...But not the chests that require keys...I think that maybe they should make special chests for that...Like as in, rogues get a special tool or weapon, and maybe the players get the special chest key drops from monsters...If rogues could pick any lock, that would kind of throw things off a bit I think...I know, it makes no sense, but in a way it does if you were on the same thinking level...It's hard to explain...I tried though...

I see what you're saying... make it fair and balanced for everyone... it would just be a perk of the new class..

I also agree that it might be possible to get this skill for the new class but you could limit its use to 1 use only liike the rez signet to stop over use and depending on the skill level will limit the chance of opening the chests in the first place so there is still a random chance of failing to open the chest.

As you could scale the chests from ascalon to obsidian in difficulty level so a low level lock pick would have little or no chance to open an obsidian chest when a high level has a very high chance to open an ascalon chest.

What do you think?
